Every once in a long while a person creates something so truly amazing that they know they will forever be remembered for it. A creation so epic that it is instantly more powerful and more relevant than its creator. Over the course of the last two days I dabbled in such greatness.
Gabe and I have had a long standing mutual love of the ShamWow, and most notably Vince Offer, the ShamWow guy. A love that lead me to be Vince for Halloween. Over the winter break our ShamWow discussions got taken to the next level. We debated the merits of many infomercial celebrities, which turned into a discussion of which man would emerge the victor in a brawl. This led to musings about a movie in which the infomercial magnates are driven insane by their lives of peddling worthless wares and begin committing unspeakable evils. Gabe and I didn’t miss an unspeakable evil. It’s at this point in the film that Gabe and I, who are apparently special agents, are forced to come out of retirement to save the world. The movie is sort of like a superhero or Bond flick just weirder. A lot weirder. We came up with some plot points [SPOILERS] like how in the end Billy Mays redeems himself in a Darth Vader type way and sacrifices himself to save the heroes. Or that Tony Little’s Evil Robot Clone Army are all rigged up with small nuclear devices that are detonated only if Tony Little’s heart stops as the perfect insurance policy. And along the way both protagonists rescue their romantic counterparts from the evil info-maniacs. I figure the Zach character could save Kristen Bell’s character from Vince’s cannibal dungeon, while Gabe can save Hermoine Granger (yes, Emma Watson playing the character of Hermoine Granger) from Matthew Lesko’s assault on a bank. All the while President Earl Robinson, Morgan Freeman, stresses over Zach and Gabe’s less than orthodox methods and their often disregard for “the rules.”
